Art Basel will debut in Hong Kong on May 23-26. This year, more than 250 galleries and over 2000 artists from around the world will be featured. To give the event an Asian focus, 50% of the show will feature galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The show is divided into four sections: Galleries will feature 180 leading galleries in the world; Insights will present projects that are developed especially for the show; Discoveries will showcase emerging artists; and lastly, Encounters will present large-scale sculpture and installation works.

Art Basel will take place alongside other exciting art programs that are specially organized for the show. No matter if you are looking to see some really hip and cool artwork, planning to ask a girl out for an art-inspired date, or hoping to plan something for your family, we have some good suggestions to offer for those attending this special event:

FOR A ROMANTIC DATE

Art Basel is perhaps one of the best occasions for a romantic date. It also gives you plentiful opportunities to unleash your inner artist and stylish personality.

The first part of the date can perhaps take place at the Art Basel itself. Take your time, walk your girl around some of the interesting booths and impress her with your good taste in art.

Then, as you leave the show, take her to Art Night in Wong Chuk Hang (10 minutes' taxi ride from Art Basel) where you both can chat and enjoy the retro romantic vibe of Hong Kong's industrial district.

However, if you would rather sit down to have a drink or a meal, head to Renaissance Harbor View Hotel (right next to the exhibition venue) which offers up a stunning view of Victoria Harbour, or take a taxi to Mandarin Oriental Hotel to enjoy an art-inspired meal specially prepared for Art Basel visitors (details here).

FOR HIPSTERS

We experience art with our eyes and sometimes ears, but what if we experience it with our tastebuds? For the duration of Art Basel, the basement of Fringe Club will be transformed into an intimate art bar where you can enjoy custom ABSOLUT cocktails designed by local artist Adrian Wong. Truly an adventure for hipsters' tastebuds. More details here.

You may also be interested in 'Asian Fresh Ink Group Show: Ink the World', as Fresh Ink Art is gaining wide recognition these days, not only in China but internationally. So why not grab the chance to see the latest ink trend for yourselves? A series of established and up-and-coming fresh ink artists will be featured.

Lastly, if you love quirky and funky artwork that has to do with biology and computers, you are going to get a kick out of Hong Kong installation artist Nadim Abbas' New Work, which is based on visual homology in microscopic bodies, animated GIFs, and graphic production technologies.

FOR FAMILIES

We are all familiar with the story Le Petite Prince. But have you ever imagined the wonders of 44 sunsets in a day coming true? You will be thrilled when you see this installation, called Forty-Four Sunsets in a Day, by Jennifer Wen Ma. Featuring a globe that is covered with exuberant plants painted with black ink, the whole installation spins slowly, making 44 rotations per day.

Or, if you want to enjoy the sunshine of Hong Kong's May, what about a family walk along the breezy West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade? There will be an exhibition called Private Reception 'INFLATION!', where you will see six giant inflatable sculptures.
