You must have heard of the age-old catch-phrase promoted by the local government: “Hong Kong is a shopping paradise.” Do you agree? Having spent over twenty years of my life here, I must say I don’t. I have no objection to the acclaim that Hong Kong possesses all sorts of expensive, high-end labels you can find in shopping malls or flagship stores in Central, Causeway Bay, or Tsim Sha Tsui. New York, ShanghaXintiandi, or the airport in Copenhagen can make the same claim. Nor should I deny having bumped into some expensive-looking, “designer-items” which are “heavily inspired by Vivienne Westwood, or Tom Ford” sold at 200HKD in Mong Kok.

The advantage of Hong Kong is in equal part its problem. Think about it, Hong Kong is almost like a shopping marketplace and the fashion scene here is almost like the stock market - you have a long list of shops to browse through but everything looks almost the same. It’s easy to get name brand merchandise which hurt your HSBC account. Plus, it takes much time and energy to go through so many choices to find something really special.

Then I came across Shop des Createurs, a chic, high-end online fashion store. Unlike most online shops, it supports new and emerging talents from Hong Kong, Paris, Buenos Aires and other places. No LV, Chanel and Gucci there. Instead, you will get to know some less familiar brands that sell unique, quality items. As the Founder & Managing Director, Cedric Delzenne summarizes, Shop des Createurs is not “a mere portal where any self-proclaimed designer could sell his/her works”. Rather, it prides itself on “meeting and selecting the best ones, professional, caring for details, at affordable prices, and each with their own style and story”.

This online shop has a wonderful search function, which allows you to filter not just by product and price, but by style too - be it chic, eco, vintage or casual. The items are clearly labeled, listing prices, descriptions, materials, care, and size. Many of the items are presented stylishly on a model in two angles plus a close-up, so you get a good picture of how the items will look when you are wearing them.

There is a complete women’s section displaying bags, earrings and necklaces, evening clutches, jackets and coats, jumpsuits, skirts and dresses, lingerie and accessories, rings and bracelets, scarves and headbands, shoes, sunglasses, swimwear, tops, tunics and shirts, t-shirts and tank tops, as well as watches.

For men, the collection is less extensive. Bags, cases & accessories, shoes, sunglasses, t-shirts, tank tops & polo shirts, underwear, and watches are featured.

Merchandise can be shipped anywhere at no cost. Shipping takes 2 days. You can get a refund for returned item by returning goods in their original package no later than 7 days after delivery.

In a shop, you probably avoid talking to salespeople when you are just browsing. But at Shop des Createurs, there is an amazing live-chat feature which enables you to ask the staff anything anytime without feeling any pressure to buy. So if you have any questions, the answers lie just a button away.

You may find most updated information about their labels via the shop's Facebook page: and Twitter @shopDcreateurs
